THE MINI REVIEW

Our take.

Over the hill is a lovely way to achieve very little in excellent surroundings. Solo, it’s an excuse to sit back, enjoy the fantastic art style and investigate whatever’s over the next ridge. There’s probably a sensible route. You’ll notice it after getting stuck. Bring the right friends and that peaceful drive becomes a shared expedition with questionable leadership. Exploring the handcrafted maps, hunting down another cosmetic crate or tackling a tricky trail to unlock a vehicle makes “shall we stop?” an increasingly unpopular suggestion. Helping each other is rewarding. Hindering each other appears to come naturally. The vehicles feel great, striking a balance between accessible driving and enough realism to make your route matter. Can you clear that rock? Will you fit between those trees? These are important questions, usually answered slightly too late. Chilled alone, potentially chaotic with friends, and very good at turning a quick drive into your entire evening.
THE CATCH
The occasional physics glitch can turn an innocent collision into an unscheduled flying lesson. Funny when it happens to your mate; slightly less charming when it’s your car.
